Six funeral homes who teamed together to take part in the Bluebell Walk through the north Kent countryside have finished counting their final sponsorships and have raised over £500 for St Christopher’s Hospice.
Funeral staff from Doves Funeral Directors in Orpington and Swanley, Crayford Funeral Service, Bexley Funeral Service and Steven Mears Funeral Directors in Sydenham and Lewisham took part in the three and nine mile Bluebell walks in Cudham last month.
Liz Sargent, Funeral Arranger/Administrator from Doves, Orpington, said: “It took a little while for the final donations to come in, but we have finished counting and are over the moon with the amount we raised.
“We all had such a lovely day. It was great for all the local funeral homes to come together as a team, team spirit which we can now carry forward into our work!
“We may have been chased by horses and ended up covered in mud, but we were all very upbeat and saw some beautiful sights, including the bluebells through the woods. Thank you to everyone who has donated!”
St Christopher’s Hospice, with sites in Sydenham and Bromley, has been promoting and providing skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality for over 50 years.
