E Sargeant & Son Funeral Directors edged closer to its £50,000 five-year donation target for Thames Hospice by hosting a quiz and raffle.
The quiz, which was held at the home of Slough Town Football Club, Arbour Park Stadium, on June 7 was a roaring success – selling 98 tickets and raising over £1,500 towards this year’s £10,000 fundraising goal set by the funeral directors.
The event was well supported by the local community and businesses alike, who donated some superb prizes for the raffle. Slough Town Football Club were very supportive donating a football shirt and signed football.
Raffle prizes were kindly donated by the Tesco’s in Slough, independent industrial products store Buck & Hickman and funeral supplies company Allsop.
Cadets from the RAF Air Cadets 153 Squadron provided their support throughout the evening as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award. They played a huge part in ensuring the quiz ran smoothly. Guests at the quiz enjoyed a superb meal as provided by The Drunken Fish from nearby Datchet.
Mark Clements, Manager at E Sargeant & Son Funeral Directors, said: “It was a delight to see so many people, organisations and companies from the local community help to support the quiz night we arranged as part of our fundraising commitment for Thames Hospice.”
Thames Hospice is a charity providing expert care for those living with life-limiting illnesses in East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire.
With many other fundraising events lined up this year including an O2 stadium climb, parachute jump with the Red Devils and sponsored bike ride, it goes without saying that E Sargeant & Son will be well on their way to achieving this year’s target of £10,000 by the end of 2019.
