Our Funeral Arranger, Anita Smithers, organised an incredibly successful coffee morning to support Breast Cancer Now’s fundraising campaign ‘Wear it Pink’.
Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, which is dedicated to funding research into this devastating disease.
Over 40 people went along to the Wonersh Bowls Club to support the coffee morning, with many friends and family donating homemade cakes, which were enjoyed with lashings of tea and coffee.
The raffle was a big hit, including prizes such as bottled spirits, wine, chocolates, wooden kitchen items, quality gift sets and lots more. There were also other games being run on the day such as the ‘Guess the pink Item’ and ‘Guess how many sweets in the jar’.
The event raised an impressive £571.82 with a promise of more donations to come. Anita said: “I am extremely proud of how the morning went, everyone looked great in pink and the support from my family and friends was amazing.
“When we got back home and counted the money, I truly could not believe how much we’d raised, I made my husband and friend count it again.
“I could not believe how generous everyone was with either their time or money; I’m humbled and overwhelmed and I just want to thank everyone for their kind donations and the Bowls Club for letting me use the clubhouse free of charge.
“With five friends being diagnosed with breast cancer over the last couple of years, this charity is important to me.”
