If you’ve worn glasses for a few years, you’ve probably got a few pairs that have an old prescription. Simply Funerals are collecting donations of old or unwanted glasses for Vision Aid Overseas.
Glasses are recycled for their precious metal content (gold frames) and any retro or vintage glasses are sold on eBay or to specialist buyers. Plastic frames are also recycled.
The income generated through the recycling process enables Vison Aid to deliver sustainable and affordable eye-care services across Africa. They do this by:
- Establishing Vision Centres
- Training local eye care workers
- Delivering eye care services to remote and isolated communities
