On hearing the announcement that the ‘Wizard of Oz’ was to be the theme for Caterham Carnival, Gareth Welsh and his team of ‘Munchkins’ at Pinks Funeral Directors couldn’t wait to get involved. The crowds applauded as Gareth drove his hearse containing the ‘Wicked Witch of the West’ down the ‘yellow brick road’.
After the parade, many people visited Pinks stall on the green to express their delight at such an unusual entry to their local carnival. Sadly neither Toto made an appearance or Gareth’s ‘ruby red slippers’!
