Funeral Arrangers Lorraine Wormley and Rachel O’Donoghue from Doves Funeral Directors in Swanley, have also been going above and beyond for the families they work with.
The Swanley branch team work together with their families and the community in many ways – but one initiative stands out.
Lorraine and Rachel provide each family with a bulb to plant in a small pot which they label and nurture until it blooms. Then, a few months later, the families come to collect the flower from the branch along with the message that something continues to live in their loved one’s memory.
Lorraine said: “Rachel and I want to make sure that each of my families don’t leave us thinking ‘that’s it’. This way we get to stay in contact with all of the lovely people we meet and we can give them something to make them smile.
“It always brings a tear to their eye and they are eager to plant their bulb. One client pops in regularly to see how her husband’s bulb is getting on, which is so wonderful.”
