On 4 June the team at ML Williams in Ayr opened their doors to the public for the first time, with great success, as the branch received enquires for pre-paid plans.
Those in attendance were given a guided tour of the branch and the team answered any questions they had. As well as the branch’s vehicles being on display there was a horse drawn hearse with two beautiful black horses called Norman and Hector. Mr Bill Mckie, a member of the Ayr Presbytery, Mr Drew Brady, the branch’s local Celebrant and the team from Robertsons Memorial Headstones were also present for the full day.
The branch also raised funds for The Ayrshire Hospice. Home-baked goods were on sale for a donation and a large hamper with goodies inside was raffled off. Mark Duthie, Funeral Director, who has been with M L Williams for nine years, said: “This was our first open day and I think all the planning, hard work and preparation by all the staff was a fantastic team effort and certainly paid off.
“The purpose of the open day was to let the general public see what a fantastic funeral home we have and to meet all the staff face to face and to reassure them that we are approachable at anytime. We also raised several hundred pounds for The Ayrshire Hospice, which is fantastic.”
