Our Funeral Arranger, Lucy Covey, took part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise hundreds of pounds for Tommy’s – a charity funding vital research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth.
On 8 October, after training for four months, Lucy put on her running shoes and completed the half marathon in just over three hours, despite gaining an injury at six miles.
The route took Lucy around some of London’s landmarks starting in Hyde Park, going past Buckingham Palace, Downing Street, up and down the Strand, up the Mall and then back to do a final lap of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens.
She raised an impressive £457 for Tommy’s, which brings her fundraising total for the charity to just under £1000. As well as funding research into baby loss, Tommy’s provides parents to be with pregnancy health information.
Lucy said: “I have taken part in a half marathon before but this time I decided to raise money for charity at the same time. Tommy’s helped me a lot when I lost my son in 2012 so it only felt right to pay them back.
“I found the half marathon quite tough this time round but that was down to the injuries I suffered, however, I never say never to running another one in the future… just not yet!
