On 13th June our Acton branch held a fundraising day in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society. The Alzheimer’s Society Cupcake Day is an annual event where people are encouraged to bake, buy, eat and share cupcakes in the fight against Dementia.
Dementia is now the leading cause of death in England and Wales, overtaking both cancer and heart disease. In the average time it takes to bake a batch of cakes, six people in the UK will develop dementia.
A special thanks to everyone who supported the event including Reverend Nick Jones from St Mary’s Church Acton, Reverend Roger Dunlop from Ruislip who kindly donated and came for cake and coffee, and a passer-by who came back twice, because the cakes were so nice!
A total of £63.35 was raised which will be given to the Alzheimer’s Society. Days like this help to fund pioneering research, crucial support services and vital care and Howard’s are proud to be making a difference
The cakes that were not sold on the day were donated to Acton Care Centre for the residents to enjoy.
