After a high street store stopped its scheme to recycle used Christmas cards, the team at Thomas Bragg and Sons, Knowle decided to help the community and start their own scheme.
The funeral branch teamed up with the Knowle Society and the Woodland Trust and pledged to plant one tree for every 2,000 cards donated.
An incredible 5,112 cards were donated in total with even more cards being donated after the deadline had passed, and the team is planning to up-cycle them all.
Funeral Arranger Kayleigh Hughes said: “The response was absolutely incredible, it was a real hit with the community and I am so grateful for everyone’s donations. We would like to say a special thanks to The Knowle Society for supporting us.
“The two trees will soon be planted by The Woodland Trust in a forest near Knowle, which is very exciting!”
