The team from Thomas Bragg and Sons Funeral Directors in Solihull swam an impressive five kilometres in memory of baby Jacob Matthew Kennedy, whose family were supported greatly by the team at the branch.
The idea came from Area Development Manager Fiona Campbell but it was Kayleigh Hughes (Funeral Arranger) and Victoria Fallon (Funeral Director) who swam the distance at Bannatyne’s in Solihull, which is the equivalent to 12.5 laps on a running track.
They have also set up a tribute page for Jacob where donations can be made and virtual candles can be lit in his memory, which has made a real difference to his parents Sara and Sean Kennedy who regularly relight candles and write messages on the page.
The pair have raised over £1,000 for Starlight, a charity that supports seriously and terminally ill children across the UK by granting wishes-of-a-lifetime.
Kayleigh said: “Sara and Sean are such wonderful people and I know this remembrance swim meant the world to them. The swim was tough but so worth it and I am over the moon at the amount of money Victoria and I have raised for Starlight.”
