Funeral Arranger Anita Smithers from James and Thomas Funeral Directors in Merrow battled against local teams with her friends at Guildford Rugby Club’s annual fundraising quiz night.
Their sporting team, The Pink Flamingos, improved on last year’s quiz performance, avoiding winning the wooden spoon by one point.
The event on 20 October was organised by friends and volunteers from Shooting Star Chase Christopher’s Children’s Hospice, managed to raise over £1,500 for the charity, which provides vital care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and supports their families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement.
Around 200 people took part in the ten tricky rounds of questions at the rugby club, which was kindly loaned free of charge, as well as enjoying a Fish and Chip supper provided by the local chip shop. Entertainment included a raffle and a game of ‘Heads and Tails’ during the interval.
Funeral Arranger, Anita Smithers said: “We had an absolutely fantastic night. It was great to see so many people getting involved to raise money for such a wonderful charity.”
