The sky’s the limit for brave Richard

Daredevil Tonbridge Funeral Director Richard Wheeler took to the skies to raise money for three charities close to his heart.

Richard, 61, of T W Boorman Funeral Services stepped on top of a Stearman biplane to take part in the wing walking challenge at Damyns Hall Aerodrome in Upminster.

Friends, family and colleagues cheered Richard on as he travelled several hundred feet up in the air at speeds of up to 130 miles per hour.

Richard’s adrenalin-fuelled stunt raised £1,015. He delivered the funds to his local hospice, Hospice in the Weald, and the Alzheimer’s Society and is organising a time to present the remaining third to Breast Cancer Care.

Richard, who has worked for TW Boorman for two years, has previously taken the plunge with a bungee jump for charity, and said: “I do like the adrenalin-rush, and it’s something to tick off my bucket list – so I wanted to make it worthwhile by raising money for charity.

“Our local hospice does a fantastic job, and I know the devastation Alzheimer’s and breast cancer can cause to families. Due to my own family experiences, Breast Cancer Care is a charity that I care deeply about.”

Fundraising fanatic Richard has now been asked by Hospice in the Weald to take part in their parachute jump, of course he has accepted!
