Mother’s Day Memory Tea

Anita Smithers, our Funeral Arranger, did something a little different to celebrate Mother’s Day this year.

She organised an afternoon tea at the branch, in association with St John’s Church, Merrow, to remember mothers who are no longer with us.

Sue Sanders and her son Tom from Merrow Savouries provided cakes on the day and they certainly pulled out the stops as they were delicious!

Anita said: “The afternoon went really well, and the new vicar of St John’s, Reverend Rona Stuart-Bourne said a few words before we all sat round chatting.

“The feedback I had was lovely and some of the people genuinely didn’t want to leave. Regional Development Director Peter Dearing came along to support me and I’m very grateful to him for making the teas and coffees throughout the day!

He also brought little baskets of primulas for the guests to take home, they were a lovely touch and the guests were very grateful.

Everyone was encouraged to write a message to their mum and leave on my memory tree.

“I believe this is something which could grow and grow, and I’ve already been asked if I would be doing something similar on Father’s Day which I hope to be organising soon!”
