Dying Matters Awareness Week – let’s talk about it!

Our team from Holme Lacy Road, Hereford, showed their support for Dying Matters Awareness Week, which highlights the importance of talking more openly about dying, death, bereavement, and making plans for the end of life.

Funeral Arranger Catherine Gurney organised a coffee morning on 16 May where the local community could pop into the branch and enjoy a chat over a cuppa and a slice (or slices) of cake.

Catherine said: “I provided as much information and guidance as possible about anything funeral related, such as organising a funeral, prepaid funeral plans, ashes into glass, what kind of funerals are available, choosing a memorial and burial or cremation.

“As a funeral home it’s important to remember that we are also here to offer support to families and friends, so on the coffee morning I was there to chat about bereavement, planning a funeral and what decisions to expect after a loved one dies to ensure that people can be prepared in any situation.

“It is understandable that many people feel uncomfortable talking about dying but this awareness week was a perfect opportunity to break down the barriers and get the conversation started whilst we all enjoyed lots of tea, coffee and cake!”
