Funeral directors to the core
Funeral Partners Limited was founded in 2007 by Phillip Greenfield, because he could see a need for a well-run and high-quality group of funeral directors that would provide people with a service they could rely on wherever they live.
We have a common language. We understand that the businesses that come on board are often ‘selling the family jewels’. When they ask ‘what do I do now?’ we understand.
Funeral Partners’ model is based on acquiring independent funeral directors, retaining their heritage – a major asset – and putting in the investment, training and improved processes in order to build a brand with a reputation for absolute reliability, trust and quality.
Despite the low-key approach to growing our business, we conducted funerals for over a thousand people in its our first year, and today there are over 150 branches in towns and cities from the south coast of England to Scotland.
Over recent years our name for integrity and honesty has attracted funeral directors throughout the country. They have appreciated our deep knowledge of the sector – many of our senior employees were born and raised in family‑run funeral businesses themselves. Our commitment has been to building every acquired company’s business whilst retaining its original identity within its local community.
We continue to grow rapidly, creating a modern and well-run business built on the foundation of the best traditions of the profession in a highly fragmented market. Above all, all our funeral businesses offer a sensitive but professional service to grieving families and is leading the way in shaping and setting new standards in our honourable and historic profession.
Phillip Greenfield retired from his role as Chief Executive at the end of December 2017 although continues to be active as a Non-Executive Director of the company.
Sam Kershaw, who joined Funeral Partners in 2016 as Chief Operating Officer, was appointed as the new Chief Executive on 1 January 2018. For the last two years Sam has worked alongside Phillip Greenfield as Funeral Partners has continued to grow.
Sam says: “Phillip Greenfield has created the third largest funeral business in the country, but what is really special is the supportive culture he has developed. Our funeral home teams up and down the country continue to demonstrate great pride in their work and the support they give to families, taking personal responsibility for delivering an excellent service.
“Funeral Partners has invested in these family businesses, while protecting their heritage and retaining their local identity and the ethos of an independent business, providing high levels of customer and community service. I look forward to leading Funeral Partners’ continued growth into a truly countrywide business.”
